Hello BOOMers! As they say, only death and taxes are certain! So make sure to peer review. I'll add the good points here. - Remember AGAIN, at ANY frequency if the energy is high enough it can hurt you at least with tissue heating, which can lead to other complications or maybe indirectly to cancer. That's why all transmissions are limited to very low energy that can do nothing. - Long exposure to sun light's UV-A and UV-B, although not ionizing but because of sheer volume and higher frequency and energy, causes tanning and sun burn. Those cause side effects that can lead to cancer, like accelerated aging of skin cells. - 5G wireless range is pretty short, see MKBHD's video: - I'm hearing from a bunch of people that 5G effects the oxygen level in air or body for some reason?! HOW?! oxygen molecule (O2) is non-polarized, so no electrical imbalance in it to interact with EM waves. H2O in microwave oven interacts with 2.4GHz because it is polarized. Which hoax paper talked about this nonsense?! Just because people yell wrong things doesn't make them right! unless there is a very legitimate test report... SHOW ME! - one more good point: light shining on plants can break molecules and store light energy in plants through photosynthesis. So... can light at lower frequency ionize? Now I'm not familiar with how plants work, but I can assume light does it indirectly. For example, visible light can generate electricity through a solar-cell and that electricity can be used to break water molecules into gasses. You can do all sort of magic with electricity like run a Tesla Coil! So light energy at any frequency can be processed to do other things, but at lower than UV frequencies can't directly break molecules.

If I wanted to know about 5g, why not just go talk to the guys that developed it? I used to do security for them :)

    • András Horváth
      András Horváth

Way how UV-A (and B to some extend, but cannot penetrate into skin so much) cause mutations is indirect but does involve ionizing and photo-activation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the cells. ROS are diffusing in the cells and cause oxidative stress damaging DNA and proteins. The point as that ionizing effect depends on the molecule. Photosynthesis: electrons in some molecules can be excited so the jump to an other energy level until they jump back and emit light. Chlorophyll in plants and also photosensitive proteins in the eye have excitable delocalized electrons that are channeled away by the chemical complex. Photosynthesis converts to chemical energy, the eye use the electrons to create signal to the brain. In some sense this is a catalyzed ionization. I think most of the points you make in the video is correct, It was very entertaining and educational. What you did not mention was the secondary effects electromagnetic fields could have that do not manifest in breaking molecules through ionization or heat is its potential interaction with electric currents in the body through induced magnetism. By electric currents I mean membrane polarization in neurons or other ionic gradients. Such an effect could cause electric noise in the brain or modify cell migration or the way how cells interact. What we know is that strong electromagnetic field can cause nausea and dizziness. The long-term effect of low but constant exposure is still under investigation but no ground-breaking evidence has been found against the radio waves yet. The regulatory thresholds for exposure is far below the known dangerous level just because of precaution.

Debunked? Sounds like you're at the apex of a Dunning-Kruger effect curve. While you may know a lot about electricity you seem to be lacking in study on the human body. Please don't talk about things you haven't fully researched. There are greater than 600 studies published by NCBI alone which prove your ignorance. You need to play catchup - we like you a lot and you're the guru of zap but when you have no evidence it's time to shut your trap.

I would advise anyone who reads this comment to check out 3blue1brown's video about most published research being wrong. Anyhow, let's continue to the comment. Let's analyze this situation from an unbiased perspective. What are we trying to accomplish with 5G? Better bandwidth. What are we causing because of it? Well, we're irradiating our whole planet. This isn't something that should be addressed in such a silly and non-serious manner, this will affect all human beings that aren't sealed in a faraday cage. This is also new technology with little scientific data. We can't dismiss it's potential dangers by just saying "oh yeah it doesn't cause cancer and it won't cook you alive". Our brains can detect EM radiation. They emit EM radiation. Now use your brains and think about that. This needs to be more thoroughly researched.

3G and 4G are scientifically and unequivocally proven to be cancerous, and cause brain tumors as we hold the radio transmitter (cell phone) up against our heads. Even T-Mobil has a white paper, saying exactly this. 5G is no different in this respect. Also, 5G will be located on light poles, corners of buildings, and smaller cells within buildings and living spaces. Although lower powered, they will be closer. The effects of the higher frequency of 5G on the cornea of the eye needs more study.

Does this mean that leaky microwaves are essentially safe unless enough radiation escapes to cause burns?

    • Helen

Its still radiation that heats your body and its really concentrated, so it could potentially cause damage if you are exposed to it for too long. The harm causes from it being close to you and being directly focused at you, put the microwave at a 10 meter distance from yourself and it wont do much more to you than a heater does

Really dumb question, while we have things in place to make sure it doesn't heat our bodies, does the use of these technologies contribute even in minor ways to the heating of our planet? I am not asserting it does or does not. Just curious. Edit: I should note I am no conspiracy believing individual.

    • Helen

Power plants and cars easily create trillions of times more heat and CO2 daily than what man-made radiation does in a year. most of the towers dont use more than 100 watts which is equal to warming up 24 grams of water by one degree celcius each second compare that to your vacuum cleaner working at 600 watts or your microwave at 900watts or your air conditioner working at around 3000-6000 watts. Its really miniscule and unimportant in the grand scheme of things

    • Lightning Jack
      Lightning Jack

It does not contribute at all to the heating of the planet, such low frequencies of 5G produce little heat and the air around towers will easily cool them.

  • DeliriousIntentions

ElectroBOOM, Mehdi. Try submerging a cell phone in a bucket of water. Wrap it in a zip-loc bag and submerge it in water and prove the cell signal disappears. Radio waves are attenuated by water! Human tissue is 70% water. Radio waves can not penetrate more then a few millimetres of tissue. Same reason why food in a microwave heats the out side but the center stays cold.

    • Helen

Radio waves can pass through Pure water, Our radars can see through 1 mile of greenlands ice but the sea water underneath it acts like a mirror. The problem is with the water contamination, especially salt

Bit misleading when you show the spectrum, as It is specifically UVA and UVB that cause cancers in the skin, UVA is particularly carincogenic due to depth of penetration in the dermis. UVC stops at the skin if the stratum corneum is functioning properly, but is also pretty carcinogenic to skin, theory behind why Australians have worse melanomas/merkel cell carcinomas of the skin (thinner ozone layer and more UVC exposure). 308nM is the wavelength of the most intense sunburning rays (UVB) Edit: UV carcinogenesis here is due to formation of bonds between DNA base pairs, cylobutane pyrimidine dimers "Bipyrimidine photoproducts, including cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs), (6-4) photoproducts (64 PPs) and their Dewar valence isomers, have been identified as major UV-induced DNA lesions." Edit Edit: Zinc Oxide is my favorite UVA/B blocker
